Thought I'ld post some pics of my latest mod. I have been trying to find a Fox arm so I got bored one day, added an inch to my stock steel arm and angled to match the fox arm. This certainly changes the geometry of the shock stroke and feels much better through the range even with the stock shocks as shown in the picture. G`day Red, Mod looks great! have you tried to fit your chain ? clearence between bottom chain roller and swingarm was a problem fitting my LOP arm {Shocks to long}. Would like some info on your brake stay, is it a later model CR stay modified? Thanks |

There is also a chain clearance problem with DG and (I expect) Fox swing arms. In the DG case the shock mounts are in a stock position, so I think it is simply the arm is deeper and pinches the chain against the lower roller. I run a set of smaller diameter nylon washers over a bolt inserted into the stock roller mount. I have seen other who attached a piece of angle iron that moved the roller lower. My plan is to have a fab shop relocate the stock mounting bracket or tack on another tab to which the stock roller can mount but about 1/2" lower. |

I have a DG arm also on my '79 CR250R. I had to do the same, used the stock bolt & frame mount with smaller nylon rollers. I contacted John Astleford, and he has a new bracket/roller combo that will work with the DG arms. But, you also have to get a modified rear brake torque arm as well to clear the new bracket. Or you could cut/weld your stock one and modify it yourself. You have to mount it at the footpeg-frame junction. |

Great feedback and yes I did run into the issue with the stock roller so I just ran a smaller diameter roller and all seems fine now. The brake stay is off a later model CR 250 can't remember for sure but something tells me it was 82-84 ... sorry I can't verify. Required some modification but length was perfect! Paul |
