What are the most competitive bikes (most often in the top 3 of class) in your area of the country?

Dave Coupe and his Elsinore are just about unstoppable in the +40 Expert class. Dave's engine is built by Sam Alexander and just flat hauls the bacon. (For a good picture of Dave airing it out check out RacerX online http://www.racerxill.com/020604_AHRMA_BobbyM_1.cfm). Jim Dallas also rides a Sam Alexander Elsinore and last year dominated the 250 novice class. He got bumped up this year so we'll see how he does.

I've built a pretty good engine and suspension for my bike and I got the NW 50+ intermediate title. I really want to ride a bike with one of Sams engines to compare. Sam and I have gone round and round over piston port vs reed valve for several years now. All in good spirits mind you.

Hi J,

Sam works for the John Astelford Co. near Atlanta GA. There's a link in the Resources section of this site. Here it is: http://www.mindspring.com/~astinc/jacotop.html

Both John and Sam are good and knowlegeable guys. The products they make are top-notch. Tell them I said hi.

If you just want some simple port work or Sam doesn't have time I can do it as well. I'm in Northern California near Santa Rosa.

Cheers,

Loren
