I was wondering if there was a repo part for the band that holds the air cleaner cover on a honda cr250 1979 or if any one has a sugestion on how to hold it on. |

I got a C-shaped vinyl weather strip from Pep Boys and used it to cover the edge of the airbox. The extra width makes the door stay on without a strap. (I do this because my current airbox does not have the metal clips for the strap.) Alternatively you can source a vacuum cleaner belt that might fit. I got one to hold the sidepanels on. |

While we are on the subject of air cleaners, does anyone know a source for extra long but narrow (9mm) hose clamps to hold the filter onto the gold metal cage? Normally the correct length is a little wide for the gap between the cage and the front of the air box. |

The cheapest easiest way to solve this problem is with a big O-Ring. Your local hardware store should have a good selection of them. It works great and it also works great for holding on those Elsinore front number plates. They also work great for holding in your kick starter once they stop holding themselves in. Could O-Rings be the new Duct Tape? |

I would be worried that the O-ring would be tight enough to make a seal between the filter and the cage. I have bought airboxes and found old Twin Air/Uni type air filters zip-tied in place because they don't have the rubber seal to slip over the front of the cage... |

Oops! I guess I need to clarify. As I read over the posts there were a few subjects brought up. My last post is referring to the strap that holds the lid on the airbox of the 78-79 CR250's. Sorry for the confusion. |
