Guys, I need help bad! I have 1975 MR175 and for the life of me can not get the right side crank case cover off. All screws have been removed, kick start removed, even took of the clutch adjustment cap off. The seal is broken, I can run a small screw driver completly around, so the cover is not stuck at the gasket. I have even been able to gently pry the cover up enough to see that its is not sticking on the postioning dowels, but as soon as i take out the screw driver out it just pops back in place, the thing will not release. Its like something is holding it on from the inside. What am I missing! There is no way I should have to totally take apart the crank case just to release the cover to work on the clutch, is there? I have done everything that my Clymer manual says to do. Please any advise would help. Tony |

In reading my Clymer manual, it doesn't specify removing anything other than the kickstarter and brake pedal, along with the screws. However for reassembly it specifies that the clutch lifter shaft should be installed, after the cover is back in place (with the clutch lifter set at 10 o'clock before the cover is reinstalled). You might try removing the lock screw just below the clutch lifter shaft and pulling the shaft out. The shaft may be hanging up in the notch in the clutch lifter, causing the cover to hang up. |
