has anyone compared plastics from vmx and vintage iron as to which one has the best color and quality. I am planning on get new plastics for my 79 cr 250 and 83 cr 480. I would appreciate any input and also any alternate resources. How about seat covers too. Thanks, Jonathan |

I've used VMX plastic a couple times. It's good stuff. I used yamaha plastic from Vintage Iron & will not again. |

I'd go with the VMX plastic's. Bought Vintage Iron once and will never buy them again. Darcy |

I was in the same situation. I needed new plastic for a 83 CR250. From what I could tell and from viewing in person, there is no substitute for OEM plastic. OEM is injection molded and all the aftermarket stuff is vacuum molded. The best I have found so far is Maier for fenders. The rest of the plastic (rad shrouds & front numberplate & frame covers) I just waited until some OEM nice ones came up on eBay. Took a while, but I feel used OEM is better than new aftermarket any day. Just my 2 cents, for what its worth. Stan |

Hey whymee not to change the subject but I notice you have a couple of 83 250's. I have one that needs a new leftside clutch/water pump cover. Mine is corroded, I patched with JB weld and it works but I'm looking (like everyone) for a good one. Do you have an extra ? Or any tips for the old one?? thanks |

The VMX stuff is good stuff, pricey, but so is ebay for NOS stuff. You should be happy with the VMX (new Red Racer?) product. It's not grainey looking like the DC Plastic work either. |
