I get no response from Vintage Elsinores. I have tried other places with similar results. Where can I get a sleeve pressed in. Also, What are the advantages or disadvantages of sleeving as opposed to getting the cylinder replated with nickesil? Where do you get these jugs re-plated? Thanks!!! |

Hi Jack, I'm certainly no expert, but I've been trying get answers to the same questions. This is all I've been able to find out so far: Sleeved: Cheaper after initial install because you can have 4 or 5 re-bores. Better heat dispersion (claimed). You must use a chrome ring. Re-plated: Must re-plate after wear or damage. Less drag and therefore a little better revving and power. Better heat dispersion (claimed for H2O cooled). You must use an iron ring. L.A. Sleeve http://www.lasleeve.com or Rick Peterson Motorsports http://www.rpmsbigbore.com/repair.htm would probably be good places to talk to. Here is a re-plater in Pennsylvania http://www.lukesracing.com if you are on the East coast. Sometimes there is a good local or regional business that can do it. Ask other racers in your area or talk to someone at a local MX event. Good luck! J |

I used Racers' Toy Store in Escondido to fit an LA Sleeve kit to my CR250R 1979 cylinder. The chrome plating is technically superior, but the sleeve continues to work just fine 2 years on. I believe US Chrome and Eric Gorr will re-plate your cylinder if you do want to go that route. |

i took mine to a local shop a while ago, but i think they said they send it to wiseco pistons to get it done. so you might want to check wiseco's website. |

Hi we do most of our replating with US Chrome. They do excellent work and turn around time isnt bad unless it is snowmobile season.We also offer overbore kits with porting and replating for VERY reasonable money.We also stock all 78-80 Cr250R pistons , bearings,gaskets,etc.We can also modify your head and or cylinder for whatever fuel you want to run.We are seeing over 3 horsepower gain on the dyno with just a fuel change.Let me know if we can help you.You can email me at mailto:johnkerr23@msn.com or call the shop at 863-956-1255. |
