Hi
Can anyone suggest the best way to go for a cylinder re-sleeve.My 78 elsinore has a terminal score-mark near the exhaust port and I was looking for the best way to fix this .Is a stock barrel still obtainable or can I find a wiseco or equivalent sleeve that will do the job.I know this is a basic question ,but I have noticed some re-sleeved & electroplated barrels for the 78 CR250 failing here in AUS.Thanks for any light shed on this subject.

G'Day!
The most logical solution that I have used is to bore the cylinder to the nearest oversize needed to cleanup the bore, and then have the bore plated. You'll get better cooling than with a sleeve and won't have to mess around with port alignment. Just stock up on some extra pistons and rings for your new bore. You might want to follow the advice given in an earlier thread about drilling a hole in the piston at the exhaust port bridge for extra lubrication cooling. Instructions for this operation were included with my WISECO pistons. This will likely save you some grief later on.

A decent reputable engineering shop will resleeve and port out your cylinder for you.
I live in the UK so cant recomend anyone local to you but for approx £120 ($240) you can have a new sleeve.
This has got to be worth investigating.
From experience it IS worth looking at.

whereabouts in OZ are you - in Perth I can recommend a place. Had a new sleeve put in mine - cast - as I was worried re new plating and so far it works like a charm and still more than enough go for me. Makes it easier for getting pistons and rings also.

regards

Rossco
