Post subject:  1982 CR Ignition Problems

Any help is greatly appreciated. I've got a 1982 CR250 which I recently picked up for a steal (It is complete!). After changing the oil and coolant, checking compression, cleaning the carb, filter, and gas tank, I checked for spark and got it. Attempted to revive from the dead and got one puff from the black lung. Subsequent checks found that I was getting no spark. I found very high resistance on the secondary side of the coil and replaced with a coil from an 81 (which is identical). The coil from the 81 produced plenty of spark on initial test (plug out with wire attached to head bolt for ground). Once again my beast fired one time. After kicking for ten minutes (damn the left-side kick!!) I thought to check for spark. NO SPARK!!! Coil secondary resistance is about 5k--this is not right per the specs in my service manual. Anyone have ideas about what is going on?

Thanks,
