i would recomend using a 73-74 cr250 down pipe.the dg down pipe is still avalable and it works well.it is kind of loud however or if you can find a original cr pipe for a resonable price thats a good option as well.the factory pipe hangers from the cr can be bolted to the mt frame or you can fabricate the mounts needed.you will choke the cr top end down with a stock mt 250 pipe and you wont be happy with the power that combination makes plus the fins on the head will interfere.the head from a 75-76 has the fins milled down since those were high pipe equipped bikes and the combustion chambers are identicle.i put a 73 cr 250 top end on a 74 mt 250 years ago with a .020 oversize wiseco piston and at first i used a krause racing midrange pipe for a mt 250.it never ran that well and was hard to jet with that pipe on it.i got a dg pipe for a 73-74 cr 250 and after that the bike really came alive.the midrange power was killer to say the least and despite the heavier crankshaft and flywheel it was very snappy on the throttle.hope this helps you out.

dave - thanks for the tip - it appears that dg may have stopped making the 73-74 - their web site starts at 80 - 81 and so did the tucker rocky or pu book at my local shop - thats alright though because you pointed me in the right direction and thats what i needed to confirm - change the pipe if i change head, carb, and intake - by the way was it more fun doing the mods or was it more run riding the bike? - el
