I personally like gold Suns (as most know from seeing my bikes), but the Excels do look better in black then gold. All though, you don't see many Excels in red???

Robert,

I've seen a few sets of Red Excels on Maicos, but it almost seems like overkill.

It depends. If you want the stock look, go with silver. If you have a nice DG gold anodized head, along with yellow plate backgrounds, gold rims really set the look off. I'm not a fan of black rims simply because there's no contrast between tire and rim and make the assembly look fat and heavy. If you used those new colored tires then the black rim would look OK. Just my opinion. :)
