I have found some new front and rear rims for the 1973/74 CR250M. I would like to lace these to 1979 CR250 hubs? The spoke count is the same and the hubs are nearly identical width. Does anybody see any reason this won't work?

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks.

Just wanted to pass along the results from my rim fitment experiment. I unlaced the front rim from my '79 and then laced an extra '73 rim (381) I had. The spoke holes are identical in position and sequence. Unfortunately, the angles are different causing some "strain" on the spokes as they were tightened.

For anyone wanting to utilize "381" DID rims on a '78 or later model, it looks like you can use them in a pinch but I wouldn't recommend it.
