Post subject:  Honda MR-250 bearing kits

Hello, first post. I am getting ready to do a bottom end job and was wondering if CR-250 bearing and seal kit would work? I have found a web site that has the kits but don't list them for the MR. Also, would the CR gasket set work? They list kits for all year CR's and MT's.thanks, Dave in Missouri

I checked the part numbers and the bearing sizes and it looks like the two are interchangeable. The main bearings share the same part number and while the other bearings have different numbers than the CR, the sizes are the same.

I don't know if the CR gaskets will work. None of the part numbers match up, but, like the bearings, they may still be the same size. Maybe one of the MR experts on here can help with more information on that.

i was kinda wondering about bearing kits also although i think i'll reference them over to a SKS bearing and a double lipped seal, but am at the point that i am unsure of. in the rear wheel there is the 2 bearings well on the left side (as if sitting on the bike) there is a bearing retainer, now it has 4 holes drilled in it. Are you suppose to unscrew that out or is it something you pound out?? I was thinking it's a turn out because it reminds me of that center ring that you find on angle grinders to secure the grinding wheel with. Is there any tricks on doing the front bearings either? ??

That is the bearing retainer and is indeed a threaded fitting. You will need a special tool to remove that without causing
yourself a lot of extra work. The tool is available from Motion Pro http://www.motionpro.com/motorcycle/too ... iner_tool/
among others.

The front hub has two bearings and one seal. You remove the seal and then using a punch and hammer, drive the bearing out from the
opposite (through the hub) side. Once out, remove the spacer and you will have good access to the other bearing.

when you try to remve the rear bearing retainer most of them i've seen are center punched at the threads. you will want to drill that center punch mark out use a small bit and just take the punch mark out. this is a trick a honda mech. told me about. some times those retainers can be real hard to get out this just helps a little jd

ended up making our own tool. if anyone elde wants to make their own. get to square lines so it makes a plus sign, center punch the center, then use a compass to mark lines exactly 20mm out from the center on that plus sign you make, drill the center, weld in a bolt, then drill those other holes and either put in a small bolt, or cut up a 13/64ths drill bit and weld it into those holes, it works well.
