Vintage Dirt Bike Q & A

I have just picked up 3 CR480s, one is a 1983 and the other two are 1982. The 83 has some missing parts, the fins are broken on the barrel, and needs a clutch hub. The barrel's have a different part numbers (82 to 83), as do many other parts, but I have found that Honda supersedes old numbers, and that does not necessarily mean that it won't work. My question is how much of the motor is interchangeable?

i would use the entire 83 motor.it has better porting plus it has a 5 speed trans.the bike was unstoppable when it was new.might be competitive today if there is a open class race you can race against other open bikes from that era.the only time i would worry is if someone shows up with a KTM 495 or a Maico 490.
