$$$ has forced me to decide to sell my beloved 1976 CR 125 Elsinore.
The one that I've worked so hard on & spent so much money & time on.

I'm sure you guys can relate. I have reciepts for most everything I've done to her.

So I ask, sell or part out?
I need to get the most out of it.

Noooooooo!! Sell anything! The wife, kids,(they'll cost you a fortune in the long run!) house, dog,(hmmm, depends how good he is!) your shoes, your body! Just don't sell the bike! I'd rather sleep under a hedge than sell my bikes. I've regretted selling the one and only bike I've ever sold for the last 8yrs. As I haven't raced since. I'd give anything in the world to still have that CR!

Seriously now. You'll probably get more for it if its parted out. (someone with infinatly more knowladge of these things will probably come and tell me otherwise) But it will take time, and probably be heartbraking to strip a bike you've loved. At least if it goes as "one lump" it will be quick and if you sell it to the right person you can keep track of it, and you never know what the future holds, you could buy it back?! Plus you'll be happier knowing it's being used and loved.

Just my 2cents.

Stevie

You'll never know which would bring more money, because you'll do one or the other. As I see it, parting it out could potentially bring more money (your head is worth a pretty penny), but only if more than one person is really wanting those particular parts at the exact time you are selling them. As mentioned, if you sell it whole, you'll have more piece of mind. Plus, you'll know exactly what you are going to get in one lump sum and it's a Whole Lot Less Hassle.
Good luck with whatever route you take.

Good points guys.
I may not have to sell it just yet, I have two modern bikes for sale & my wife did just get a job.
I may avoid financial ruin after all. :?

Sell that nice looking Tundra instead, and buy a ten year old truck. Use the difference to pay the bills. Dangle a picture of the Elsinore on the rear-view mirror to remind you of how smart you are for keeping the bike.
