Contact Racers' Toy Store (where I've been twice) or Crank Works and they'll find an IMS kit to fit.

If my memory is correct the 1978-1980 CR250 share the same crank - or least the rod - with an early 80's ATC250R. And there is an IMS kit for the that.

Vintage elsinores has them. Thats where I got my kit for my 1980 cr250. Its a Hotrod p/n. When you look up that part number on the Hotrods website it says for later models but it works. Someone got the calipers out and did some measuring.

Honda, I believe, only sold the complete crank for the bikes. The rod, however, is the same as for the 1981-84 ATC250r. There are aftermarket rod kits for that. I bought two Vesrah kits off of Ebay, and Wiseco sells them as well. The rods definitely are not the same all Cr250 years through 2001. The 78-80 Cr250r rod is listed 64.4mm, the years after are listed at 72mm, with a different kit even then listed for 2002 on..

Ok Fellas...

Who is right?

Some say the rod kit from 78 to 01 the same.

FTE sez the rod is the same as for the 1981-84 ATC250r.

Who is right?

Anybody have part #'s from Hot Rods, Vesrah, IMS, Pro-X ect?

My "new" Elsie needs a rebuild.

Thanks

The measurement you are talking about is stroke, not rod length. Re-Mx has them for $109. This company shows 78-2001 the same. http://www.motoxparts.co.nz/motoxspares.php?price_image=1&category=0&brand=102&page=1&piece=1097

2 months ago i had a 78-80 crank to rebuild.
send it to my shop here in germany.
they installed a pro-x kit for 78-01.
the orig. crankpin 78-80 is 58mm long, later models uses a 60mm crankpin.
they shortend the pin for these 2mm and installed the kit.
that´s the secret. :D

I stand corrected!

So a current oem kit will work with small mods, eh?

Did you call Racers' Toy Store as suggested in the 2nd post?

Sent my Crank & cylinder to "The Racers Toy Store". Seem to be nice folks.

After looking around for rod kits for this bike, I realized I had 2 kits for my 83 Cr250. An OEM & a Hot Rods. I send both with the crank.

Will report back once I have reconditioned parts in hand.

Thanks Michael for the heads up on the "Store"!
