This is to correct my last message. What I was wondering about was where I could get a new throttle tube, the thing which slides over the handle bar under the grip, which the end of the cable attaches to. The guys at Dennis Kirk aren't sure which one to send me. for 76 cr250. Any help much appreciated.

Good luck, oem tubes are very hard to find. I have seen them on ebay a few times in the last year. I spent 12 bucks on a similar arftermarkect assembly ( two grips, tube and throttle casing) and had my cable modified at the bike shop to use the aftermarket cable adjuster. This will be much faster than searching for oem.

You can try http://www.westernhillshonda.com or http://www.cmsnl.com for an OEM part. Or try http://www.motionpro.com for a throttle tube or worst case pick up a complete period correct Gunnar Gasser side-pull throttle.

If you don't care all that much about keeping it in period trim I'd go with the Gunnar-Gasser throttle as RR suggested.
