Almost finished restoring a 1981 CR125... Why a 81? Well, it is historicaly signifigant (at least to me) as it was the last yeat for the red motor, last year for the Elsinore badge, first year water cooling, first year pro-link, darn good looking.. I know what all the reviews said at the time... top heavy, slow, the 1980 was better... bla, bla.. It turned out very well, hope to have it along at Barber for the vintage races later this year, but she has no front brake! Probably will never miss it... but it does need the clutch.
I need a fresh (prefer NOS) or aftermarket front brake cable and a clutch cable. I have been looking for months.. motion pro even dropped them I think. As far as restoration parts availability are concerned the 81 model year has been seemingly a bast@#d year. Not much out there as far as aftermarket support and the NOS stuff when it does show up is priced way out there. I saw an OEM front number plate all ragged and multicolored go for over 175.00... nuts.
Thanks for tolerating the rant and please pass along any info you can help with finding ther brake and clutch cables...... I have many parts, engine, front forks, etc... rare hardware.. ask if you need something. Ebay is fun but and a royal pain... i would rather help here... If you are at Barber look for it number 758.. I get to ride the 50+ class this year so that makes me young again... hope to make the podium. RIDE RED!
Scott
