Does anyone know if the 82 and 83 CR250 forks are the same,or if there is any way to tell the diffrence between the 2 model years.Recently pick up a set for my 79 Cr250,and was wanting to order a new set of seals. Also what is the standard amount of fork oil per leg,air pressure, oil weight etc.Anyone have these forks in their 79 CR250 what fork height above the top triple clamp are you running.Wanting to get them set up for are next big race.Any help much appreciated.Cliff.

Look in the Reference section and you'll find data on the 1982 Kayabas and the 1983 Showas. I run mine about 1/2" above the triple clamp.

Thanks for that Michael.Do you know if the stock 79 cr250 axle fits the 83 showas. The threads are good on both my axle and forks, but will only screw half way into the forks before becoming very tight.Dont what to damage threads on forks. Also useing standard 79 hub.

I know you can use a 1979 hub with the later forks, but I confess I do not know for sure which axle you would use, assume the 1979 one. I do believe the threads are common so I would be worried if you cannot screw any axle easily in the 1983 fork leg. Test it out without the wheel to make sure nothing is cross-threaded.
