HI
just fitting my new reconditioned stator to my cr250 1973.any tips on the best timing set ups
i think factory is 1.5mm btdc

Honda recommends 1.8 to 2.0 BTDC in the manual. Honda racing recommended 1.5 BTDC which is probably
a better (field tested) setting.

Use a dial indicator to find TDC then back it off to whatever setting you prefer. I use a multimeter to indicate
when the points open (see pic). With the dial indicator indicating your preferred advance number, turn the
stator plate until you get an indication from the multimeter and lock it down. You're done.

I sure liked the way Honda did these motors timing, easy to do, pretty fool proof. Imagine my surprise when I got my MR several years ago. I dig out my old dial indicator set up I bought for my CR back in the day ($37.95) Oops don't work, you adjust them by changing the point gap, how crude.
