Anyone know where I can purchase a set of new like-oem case screws for my engine? About half of my originals are augered out more than I like. I purchased a set of stainless allen-head screws and have had them in since the last rebuild, but 1)don't like the way they look and 2) Not comfortable with the smaller area under the head contacting the cases. I would rather buy a complete set versus buying these individually, if possible.

Thanks, -Mitch

Mitchie,

You can still get all of those screws from Honda http://www.bikebandit.com/
if you really want "OEM like".

I agree with your concern about the cap screws, they have about half the
surface area under the head of an OEM screw. Anything you final torque with
an impact driver puts a lot of stress on those old castings.

Most of this basic hardware is still available from Honda either under the original parts number or the same dimension in newer model. I've gone with newer OEM flange case bolts the same length in some cases, which are a good alternative to allen bolts or the older style screws if you are not putting a show bike together.

A tip on parts orders is to use one of the online fiche's to get the original part number and order from Service Honda; they are quick and sell for 30% off, and shipments arrive about as quickly as a local dealer order.

To the "support your local dealer" folks, I would if any of the Honda shops within 50 miles were worth beans in terms of customer service.

My original dealer is now long gone but when he was still around in the 90's when I did my buddies 74 cr he had most parts in stock. Im sure someone hit the gold mine when they bought up his old stock. He originally had HD and I know he had Hondas since '64. My new dealer never has anything, but it does come in fast, and since I give him part #'s I get 10% off which pays the tax. I don't know if this helps Mitch but here goes- 93500-06035 is a 6mm x 35mm pan screw.96001-06035-00 is a 6mm x 35mm flange screw, so if you needed a 6mm x 40mm flange screw you'd order a 96001-06040-00. You might not be able to get all the lengths you need but you could cut longer ones down. Good luck
