I need to swap steering stems from one triple tree to another. I cant tell if these are threaded in or pressed into the lower tree? I put a wrench on them but couldnt get it to budge. Any advice would be appreciated.

The steering stems are press fit.

Spray a little penetrating oil around the stem/clamp area, then support the lower clamp
all the way to the where the stem flange protrudes with a flat die. Protect the threads
on the top of the stem with an appropriate size impact socket or equivalent and press it
through. It's important to support the entire bottom of the lower triple clamp (leaving just
enough room for the stem to fall through) to prevent it from flexing too much while pressing
the stem. These old castings can be fairly brittle and may crack if you are not carefull.
