Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a throttle cable for my mt250 with the splitter for the oil pump too. The problem I'm having is that there doesn't seem to be enough play for me to connect it to the throttle. As for the oil pump cable, how does this get connected to the oil pump? I don't see a place for the cable to go.

Thanks for your help.

Kyle

Kyle,

There are adjusters on both ends of the throttle cable. I don't know if your bike has the stock throttle and/or carb, so I can't be more specific than that. If the carb on the bike is larger than the tiny 28mm OEM carb, it's quite possible the original throttle cable may not work.

Apparently there's no oil cable on the bike now, which opens up a can of worms; Why not? Was the oil pump disconnected, does it even work, is there still an oil tank on the bike, are the oil lines intact, are they full of air or solidified oil, have any bearings been damaged from running with little or no oil, etc. etc.

Ray

Hi ray,

I just purchased an original carb for the bike and there seems to be enough play when I connect it to the carb but when I try to connect it to the throttle, that's when the cable just doesnt seem to fit. I did purchase a throttle cable with splitter for the oil pump recently.

As for the oil pump, I bought and installed one and there doesn't seem to be a place for the cable to connect to the pump. Maybe the throotle cable is the wrong one? Am I able to have a custom one made or do you think this is even the problem?

Thanks again.

Kyle

Kyle,

It's hard for me to know what's going on with your bike without actually being there to see it. I guess if you bought a carb and oil pump, those items were missing - is this a basket-case bike?

Here's a picture of the oil pump assembly. If you're planning on doing a bunch of work to this bike, the Clymer '73-'77 125cc-250cc Elsinores manual would be a good investment - they pop up all the time on eBay. The manual's ISBN number is 0-89287-176-8 .
