The bolt broke off leaving the knuckle attatched to the crank. Any advice on getting the knuckle off the bike.? The bolt broke inside the knuckle. |

If I understand this correctly, the kickstarter still works but the bolt that secures the knuckle to the spindle has broken off inside the knuckle, correct? I would remove the kickstart lever from the knuckle (give you better access). If the bolt is broken off flush with the surface of the knuckle, use a rotary tool with a cut off disk to slot the bolt making it into a screw you can remove with a screw driver. Before you attempt to unscrew it though, spray some penetrant and let it soak for several hours. If the bolt is broken off below the surface of the knuckle, I would recommend using a screw extractor that you can get from your local hardware store and use according to the manufacturer's instructions. If the bolt broke off while tightening, it will be easier to remove than if it broke off while loosening. Good luck. dogger |
