The seals need replacing on 83 cr250 forks i recently aquired for my 79 cr250.I Have removed the bolt on the lower fork legs useing an inpact wrench, and all the fork internals. But the fork stantion is reluctant to separate from the lower fork leg.Does anyone know if anything else needs to be removed to get the fork to separate.Would the oil seal stop ring prevent this,or could the bush slider be hanging up on the oil seal when i have the forks fully extended? Any help would be most welcome. Thanks Cliff.

Assuming all circlips, etc. are off around the seal, most forks need a good yank to separate, sometimes even a bit of heat around the seal area. Don't be bashful.

The oil seal circlip is still in place,as i could not remove the fork dust seal without causing damage to the seal.I believe the dust seals are no longer available from honda.Should the fork not separate with the seals and circlip still in place?

You can buy dust seals and oil seals for those forks from several vendors. They are a very common size. I like the MSR seals from filterking online ebay store. Take the clip off and then use the tube like a slide hammer to pull it out, the seals will come with it. The lower bushings on the fork leg are larger in OD than the ID of the seals.
