Vintage Dirt Bike Q & A

I have an oportunity to purchase a 72 250 motorsport for around $500 it's been parked for 9 years has papers and is all their.
My gole is to restore an old enduro for colecter plates status but want to make sure I have something worthy of restoration. can someone give me some info on this bike or a link to a website.

i have had several xl250s, i think they are good bikes. good enduro bike and they will cruse on the hi way all day at 60 + mph on a few gallons of gas. there just a good all around bike. if the one your looking at is not all rusty and the motor turns over sounds like a fair price. check fork legs and in side gas tank for rust. look the pipe over for rust holes. check rear shocks shafts for rust. it might have a 23 front wheel you can probably change to a 21, i think 23 in tires are hard to find. jd

I have a 1977 350XL. Used to spend a lot of time on that site but lately it seems to be moving to more modern bikes.

You didn't ask but a complete and papered 250XL will go for ~$2600.
