Post subject:  Leaky Radiator Fix

I have a radiator that is leaking around the seam at the top.
Is there a liquid type adhesive like polyester resin that it can be coated with to seal it?

The local rad shop sez it cant be fixed and I'm not quite ready to let these otherwise nice 82 cr radiators go to scrap if I can help it...

Thanks!

Dave

If it's just at the top where you can get to it easily - dry it off very-very well, then sand it a bit maybe with a smile wire brush to scuff it up as it's aluminum. Then you can try one of two things... hard epoxy that you put on and leave on -or- go to any hardware store and you will find a putty that is usually near the super glues and stuff. I used to run a marina, and this stuff is like a green tootsie roll with a center filling - smash it all together (or just cut off a small piece and smash it together) and kneed it and the two chemicals will mix - you can then put it right onto the radiator and after it dries paint it. It will say for whater, and chemicals etc... there are several diff putties so get the right on.

Good luck.
