Does anyone know what other shifters will fit the shaft on a 1979 CR125? I need a longer shifter and I found a few on ebay that look like they would work, but I'm not sure about bolting on to the shaft. Thanks for any help! J |

I am in need of the same thing for the 79 CR250R. I replaced the footpegs with very wide IMS pegs which decreases the space between the shifter and the peg causing me to accidently shift when I don't want to. I guess I could get another shifter and hack both up and splice in a piece, but I'd rather just find one the right length. |

I have a CR250R 1979 with IMS pegs also (love them by the way) and with new school stiff boots occassionally miss shifts. The only answer I have seen on the boards is to get a stock steel 1978 lever or an after-market lever from (say) Moose Racing and have it cut and a 1" extension welded in. I guess you could do the same with the 1979 aluminum lever too. It seems that the stock lever is pretty unique in being straight rather than S-shaped, probably due to the clutch being on the "wrong" side and this makes using other levers difficult. Anyway, I have raised the lever and learnt to shift with the edge of my boot rather than the top... |

I was looking at a mid-80's 250R shifter that looked like it had the right bend, but I was unsure of the shaft size as compared to a 79 CR125. J |

I would be more confident that the shaft size was OK, but the shape would be off. Later Hondas tend to tuck the gearlever shaft more in and under the engine leading to a bend you might not have on the CR125R and you definitely do not have on the CR250R 1979. |
