Installing the All-Balls roller bearing kit on my steering bearing to replace the stock ball bearings.
Almost done but hit a snag.
I'm pretty sure that I need to remove and discard the Honda lower race of the lower bearing but I'm not sure how to get it off.
It is attached to the base of the hollow tube that is pressed onto the lower triple clamp. This lower race spins on the hollow tube but does not want to come off, at least by pulling by hand.
Anyone else gone through this and able to tell me how to get this thing off?

The lower race is pressed on. If you have access to a hydraulic press, place the
steering stem on a set of press plates with the stem pointing up and a hole for the
stem to pass through below. Press the stem down and out of the lower triple clamp
and the race will come off. When you are ready to install the new lower race, press
the stem in the lower triple clamp from the bottom until seated. Then place the new
race on the stem, turn the assembly over with the stem poking through the hole in the
press plates. The hole has to be big enough to allow the stem to pass through but small
enough to support the bearing race. Press the assembly down until the new race is seated.

If you don't have a hydraulic press, take it to a machine shop.

Ok now that the right way was described I took mine off with a grinder I carefully cut the race in half and it fell off. The downside to this method is that if your not very carefull you will cut the tube. I put the all balls kit on my mt250 it works nice but was a pita to tighten enough to get the slop out.

I ended up just getting a pair of pry bars and prying it off. It was not as tight as I thought. I padded the lower triple clamp with cardboard so I didn't scatch it up while prying against it. The new bearing went on by slowly tapping it down with a punch.
