Hi,
I'm a new member here in sunny Seattle who has recently purchased a 1979 CR250R in pretty good, original condition. I have been on street bikes for the last 25 years and have not payed attention to what was happening with the dirt bikes, but I had the opportunity to pick up this bike for a good price so I jumped on the deal. I have found and downloaded the owner's, parts and setup manuals. Hopefully by reading those and with help from the forum I will be able to resolve any issues that pop up. Are there any common problem areas that should be addressed immediatley? I know it sounds like a wide open question but I was just curious as to whether there were any inherent issues with that model year. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
regards,
osu_cowboy

If you don't know the maintenance history, I would at least take off the head and cylinder and inspect the bore, piston, rings and bearings. Check your rod for vertical play etc.

If you find a problem before it blows up, you'll save a lot of time and money.

get a Clymer manual! :D

Where did you get the manuals etc. from. I scanned some borrowed originals and sent them on CD to other owners. Then I lost all the files on both Rapidshare and a hard disk that failed. I have printed copies, but would love to get some soft copies too. Thanks!

: ) I've always been crazy, and it keeps me from going insane. Maybe we'll cross paths out in the dirt sometime.
