So I got new plastics and the OEM have the grommets in the mounting hole on the back fender. The replacement repop from DC does not have grommets. No big deal I thought, I'll reuse the oem grommets. WRONG. I can't get these things out. Are they supposed to come out?

I'm looking at the parts manual and it shows they are two piece units and the collar slides into the rubber. I will tell you that these things are not coming apart. They must have fused themselves together over the last 31 years. I guess I'll try some penetrating spray and see what happens.

Heat em up with a hair dryer and they get pretty soft you can lube em with some dish soap too. The ones from my 74 were just one piece and it tore them up taking them out but www.bikebandit.com had them in stock you should try there if yours dont end up working.

The soapy water trick worked like a charm. Thanks!
