What do you guys do when your baskets are grooved? It's getting very hard to find usable ones these days.

There a billet replacement available from a seller on the UK EBay site. I have one but have not installed it yet. You have the break the gear free from the old basket and rivet the new basket. It looks very well done and the seller was great to deal with. A bit pricey though, then so is a Hinson for a modern bike.

I was just curious if anybody else knew about the mitaka baskets, I have one in my 84 ATC300r drag trike, I'll share some pics of the installed product and the trike itself. Also I don't know about the CR's but with the ATC you need a custom 1/8th inch longer clutch rod made because of the extra thickness of the 300ex style plates it uses.

Nice basket!! What is the difference between ATC/CR clutch disks and 300ex disks? Thank you for posting up those pics.

Thanks! Here's a comparison pic of the ATC/CR plate vs the 300ex plate, 300ex plate is on the right. The 300ex plates are also a little thicker and all together the stack is about 1/8th of an inch thicker, that is the reason for the custom length clutch rod.

cool bike! couple more questions.... first, where is the deal on these baskets? That brand is british if i remember. Also, can you give me the scoop on the 300cc setup? There is an expert i race with that has a big bore CR250, i heard he was running an ATC topend. Can you give me the how and what of all that?

Thanks man, here's a link to the mitaka baskets on ebay UK, they are machined in china designed in UK I believe.

As far as the 300cc bigbore topends go if your bike is a centerport 1980 CR250 then you can run the 76mm hondaline ATC300r topend you can tell these kits because of the 7 head studs and straight up fins.
There's also a company called kustom kraft that will take a stock ATC or CR cylinder and re-sleeve it to 76mm here's a link.

Then if you want a bigger kit go with a mugen 360 83.5mm I'm sure you guys know about them, I've also found that the fl350 odyssey cylinders line up on the case studs perfectly but like the mugen it requires case boring to slide all the way down, my next drag motor build is using an 85 ATC250r 72mm crank and an 80mm odyssey cylinder to make 380 cc's lol.
