Post subject:  MR250 Block Crack new transmission bearing under flywheel?

Hello,

The MR250 I picked up had some epoxy under the flywheel on the block on what looks to be the transmission mainshaft bearing block area. After removing the epoxy I noticed a gouge, almost like someone had taken a wide chisel and rapped that portion of the block. Looks like it was hit from the outside...? Without the epoxy the block started leaking again, not a bunch, maybe a drip or two a day, so its not wide open. I put some fresh epoxy over the area. Is this a normal failure on the MR250? I have no idea how that got there... Maybe the previous owner was trying to wedge the flywheel off? Any ideas?

Thanks.

not sure about a common problem but the fly wheel idea sounds most acurate. i had a chain hole in my mt250 i filled with JB QUICK and never had a problem. you can find a case pretty cheap online i would think, under 50 shipped if it bugs you.
