Carb issue--need advice

I got this carb on a 1980 CR80 I am restoring. Someone broke the hex portion of the enrichener fitting off flush or actually slightly below edge of carb body. Did not notice until pulled carb apart that it was broken and the little dust boot and knob were missing. I can get this whole OEM assembly to replace it but- Not sure how to get this one out...can't get to it from inside and therefore I can't remove shaft to use an easy-out tool to twist it out. I could use carb like it is but it seems awfully loose like its worn---afraid it will have a leak there if left alone. I don't want to damage the carb body getting it out...hmmmmm...anybody got an idea? see pics....thanks Doug

any way you could file a little notch with a file, dremel, etc, and use a small flat head or a pick to run it around. maybe put one on each side and use some kind of fork, like a holder for a rotor while you pull the bolt. and have 2 purchase points to grasp. maybe even some kind of snap ring plier medley. infinite number of jerry rigging ways, the question i guess is which if any will work. ill ponder it some more.

Yeah, had thought of that --have used very small punch before and tapped things around to loosen--but brass against aluminum....scary! as both are pretty soft metal.....my primary concern is whether it will actually spin in there or is too oxidized.....D

you might be forced to destroy that shaft then replace it what size is the carb? I have a spare I think is from a MT 250 (29mm) and you could take the enrichment assembly too

I believe it is a stock 26mm for CR80--I think I can by enrichener assembly still from Honda but my primary concern is damaging the carb body during removal--preetty sure this shaft is shot as it is VERY wobbly and loose.....but have nothing to compare to either. Lemme see what can do with this one and then will get back to you on it--thanks....putting rest of frame/chassis together right now and will get to engine next week or week after probably. Should know more then if would need it--THANKS for offer!! Letcha know soon _DOUG

but yeah I'd pull the shaft all the way up, cut it as close to the body as you dare, push the shaft back down, drill the center of the shaft out of the way, and use an extractor to pull the broken junk out, then pull the remains of the shaft. then just replace the enrichment assembly like you were going to

Soounds like the way I will have to do it--should be able to use an easy-out maybe after cut shaft off (after pulling up as hi as poss...) Anybody know off-hand (before I look up part #'s) if the enrichment assembly is same for other similar carbs? Maybe I can get used...will look. This one is a 26mm I believe which is stock....D

try to use 2 small flathead screwdrivers wedged on either side of plunger assy if you can get them in tight you can probably turn the 2 drivers together to unscrew

hi, i wouid solder the stem to the base using hi silver content solder then unscrew it with vise grips, if that doesnt work drill it and use an extractor
