The cr480 forks can be used on the 79 cr125 you have to change the triple clamps too. reuse the steering stem from the 79 because the cr480 unit will be to long for the 125. i did it on my 1980 cr125. One thing i didnt like with this set up was the bars on the cr480 clamp are set very far back. feels like they are in my lap.

dont know anything about the 79-80 cr250 clamps.

Good luck.

Tom

The 1983 CR forks are 43mm and adjustable. The 1978-1980 forks are 39mm and not. If you have the choice, the 1983 forks are the way to go. You can transplant triple clamps and therefore forks between all of the late 70s and early 80s CRs because the headset bearings are common. There are differences in the length of steerer which require a spacer the size of a large washer to be used. I got a set of 43mm triple clamps that have fixed handlebar mounts that are father forward. It also turned out these triple clamps would accept the 1979 steerer so no need for a spacer.

sorry they are 37mm.
78-80 250 forks can be used in a 79 125 without changing the clamps.
note only 250/480 83 are 43mm, 125´s are 38mm.
