Post subject:  Which New Pipe For 75 CR125?

Need to replace my old pipe on stock 75 CR125 with new down pipe.
I'm considering either Retro Rocket pipe from Vintage Iron or Jemco. I plan to use a 76-78 pipe with the bigger diameter 76-78 stock exhaust manifold (better flow?).
Has anyone done a comparison of these two pipes or have a recommendation for fit and performance?
I prefer if the rear end of the pipe is not down too low like some of the other brands I've seen. Prefer closer to the same height as the stock pipe.
Thx.
Mark

Mark,

I've got a new-in-plastic Retro Rocket CR125M pipe I got from V.I. in '07 which I'll never use, if you're interested - I won't be looking for a ton of money for it. I don't know if it uses the 36mm I.D. '74-'75 manifold or the 39mm '76-'78 one, though - the invoice doesn't say, and I've never opened it to check. It's a fairly short pipe with a long header and fat center section; my guess is that it hits hard in the upper midrange.

Here's a picture of it on a '78? CR125M:

Jon at Jemco might be able to tweak his pipe higher for you if you needed it done, I don't know for sure. He can definitely supply either inlet flange.

The Pro-Form pipe is very nice. Nice up bend to it & quiet. That's the Pro-Form pipe with the built-in silencer. They also offer another Pro-Form pipe too.

You can either get it to fit the 74-75 & 76-78 CR125.

Thanks Ray for the great deal and quick shipping on the Retro Rocket pipe. The pipe is on my bike now. Hopefully the photo that I attempted to attach is visible.
It hangs down a little lower than the stock pipe but not as low as some other pipes and it touches the footpeg mount. Once the weather warms up I'll test it out.

Mark,

The pipe - and the bike - look great! I think the pipe looks a lot nicer with paint on it.

Does that pipe have a hook down below for the spring that goes to the frame loop below the shifter shaft? If that spring is missing the pipe might move a bit to the right and contact the footpeg mount; just a thought.

Yes that spring is installed. I will have a closer look when I get some time.
