When rebuilding the MT250 motor, I used a heavy setup of gasket maker in the center of the cases, rather than the paper gasket.

I had no issues reinstalling the clutch, and no issues reinstalling the cylinder... I should be OK if I haven't run into a leak or a clearance issue, right?

Kinda worried.

Sooo... it's been viewed a ton, but no one has an answer?

at some engines it is necessary to use the papergasket cause of the exact distance of the cases for all internal parts, transmission, crank etc.
don´t know about the MT. if all spindles turn free i think there´s no problem.

As b-joe mentioned, often the center case gasket provides a precise final clearance for the shafts, gears, etc. You may have gotten lucky due to worn parts having excessive clearances. Hopefully the crank won't push apart the main bearings after a few hundred miles, and your current clutch problems are not related (I don't think they are).

If I'm going to all the trouble of splitting my cases, you can bet I'll install a new gasket upon reassembly, even if it means I may have to wait a bit to find one or pay a little more when I find it.

I had one... then it became destroyed. Then I got impatient.

I had no issue re-installing the jug either... which was the part I thought would have the most issue with. So, I think I may have dodged a bullet.
