Ok, I know many of you have removed the oil pump on your MTs and I just want to work out if I should do the same...
Popular cons for the system ive read the past few weeks of searching...
- the system is 35 years old, its probably dirty and worn... yes but i could clean it up and check its clearences.
- the system was uselss when it was new... ive read that many blame the oil pump for the plug fouling which the MT seems to do so well, I assume CR and MRs dont foul?
- you cant trust it... ive had plenty of oil pumped bikes and none failed, but lots of people seem to tell me they do, hmm....
- the oil pump un primes itself if left standing... ive read that there must be some kind of air leakage in the system as people suggest the oil can retreat leaving the first few mins of startup without oil
- the metering is wrong anyway, it delivers little at idle and too much flat out as honda had no real idea about this stuff back in the day... really?
So, yes I can mix my own fuel, its no biggie, it helps longevity of the steel fuel tank as it helps avoid rusting etc, but since its on there I would kind of like to use it if i can be made to work. Ive never had an issue with a pump in the past and i does make life simpler when traveling around and grabbing fuel at gas stations etc.
Any thoughts guys?
