I have a spare set of forks and whilst sorting out my running bike today I had all the forks in one place and noticed that one set have fork tops with bolts in the tops. Both bolts are different which makes me wonder if someone just used them to fill in the holes which makes me wonder what would have been fitted in these? some airvalves maybe? Those were all the rage in the 80s of course... I grabbed some 82 XL500 and 85 XR250 forks and the original honda valves in them dont fit the fork top bolts on the MT... The hole is larger and of course the original valved tops have the thread only part way into the fork and the valve screws in until it hits the bottom of the thread, whereas on the MT tops i have the thread goes all the way through... interesting... anyone got any ideas?
