I have a pair of 74 and a pair of 75 cr125 rims. The 75 rims have a sharper shoulder. Is this a better rim than the 74 rim

At what point in production did they change the rim style? was it a midyear deal or did they change it in the new model year? The reason i am asking is i am restoring a 74 cr and out of tthe rims I have the more square edged ones are in much better condition.......Steve

I think the '74 CR125M's may have come with either rim style. As of frame nr. 1017594 they still had the straight-sided (42701-360-000) rims in your 2nd photo, but apparently the frame numbers went up to 1025519. I personally prefer the way these early rims look, and they appear to be a bit less easily damaged than the later rims used on my MR.

It seems like most of the mainly-dirt Hondas went to the rim style in your first photo in 1975, so those rims should be more plentiful. The part numbers went through several changes so it's hard to be sure.

My memory is failing me after 37 years. I do remember the 74 elsinores had weak front spokes and a weak 2nd gear
