I wear a Shoei up top. Mainly because it's the only brand I could find that fit this big old noggan of mine. I wear a XXL. Have always had this helmet problem. Back in the 70's only thing that fit was McHale. Have the same problem with fire helmets.

I wear the inexpensive MSR World Tour boots because they're comfortable and I like the flexibility. My girlfriend bought me a pair of Gargne boots a couple of years ago after trying on every brand out there. But after about two rides I decided to go back to MSR's. Modern boots feel like you're wearing steel armor and you lose the feel of the bike.

Currently use a Shoei '80s-style full-face I got off eBay in excellent condition. Have just got a '70s-style new Bell open-face off of their web site in a close out sale. Looking to get this done in the classic Honda red, white and blue stripes. Also have a very second-hand Bell Moto III that I will experiment with doing my own painting.

I have some well worn '70s Fox boots that I've "restored", but confess I race in Alpinestar Tech 8s. White of course. Have a NOS set of Scott plastic boots still in the box with the instructions, but they are un-wearable!

I went with Fox gear. I got new white Forma boots for $95 and a new white Pilot helmet for $62 on eBay. I guess I'm going for that Johnny O'Mara look. :)

The modern boots are a lot firmer than I remember my old boots being.

Back in the day I bought my first riding gear from a guy whose kid had given up motocross. As I walked out the door he pulled out of a closet the most beat-up pair of Joel Robert's you can imagine. Use these while you shop for a new pair he said - no charge. They were perfectly broken-in and held together for 5 years. I wish I had kept them as my Alpinestars are like ski-boots.
