I'm rebuilding a set of Showa 360 rear shocks on my 74 125M. I was able to get the cap off and pull out the valve housing. This is where I'm stuck.

How do you pull the valving out to check it and clean everything out?
I also got new seals and was wondering how to get the old one out. Do you have to remove the top eyelet and bolt to slide the cap off?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Paul,

Yes, the top eyelet and locknut must be unscrewed from the shaft to allow the cap/seal to be slid off. If the shaft gets chewed up in the process, be sure to smooth it down before putting the new seals back on. You're very fortunate to have found new replacement seals.

Perhaps this will also help:

note, you will need a rod holder tool like this to prevent the rod for damageing.

and maybe you have to heat the eyelet a bit if thread-locking fluid was used.
