My brother and I are restoring two honda MR250's and are looking for parts. (gasp, LOL)

We have been looking for front tank mounting rubber bushings but have not been able to find any. Are their any bushings from another bike that will fit a MR250 tank, like bushings from a CB350 tank or something?

Also, if you have any of these parts that you are willing to sell for a decent price, we would be interested in them.

Parts list: (quantity)

Air Tubes (2)
Air Box Cover (1)
Air Filters (2)
Air Filter Clamp (1)
Rubber Carb Mount/Manifold (1)
Tank Mount bushings (1 set for 1 bike)
Rear fenter retainer strap (1)
Shift lever (2)

Thanks for your time.

P.S. I have tried posting low meg pictures but it continues to whine to me about some attachment quota has been reached. I'd love to post pictures but I have no clue what the problem is, so I just gave up.

As you have probably figured out, the tank bushings for the MR250 are different than that of the CR250 because of wider tank. I have a set, but can't part with them as I sometimes use my MR tank for long rides, but usually use my CR tank (have to use MR seat with MR tank and CR seat with CR tank). I think you can find suitable rubber bushings if you look long enough. Do you have the metal inserts or are you looking for those too??
On all other parts you are looking for, they are interchangeable with the CR250. Obviously, you can buy inner tubes online or at any cycle store. The air filter can still be purchased at any Honda dealer, although I usually have to wait three days to pick it up after ordering. It is the same air filter as the 75-76 CR250. I haven't tried to buy a filter clamp, but think you can adapt large, thin radiator type clamp if you can find one. I've bought thin clamps from motorcycle stores, but never tried to buy one with a diamater large enough for the air filter, so I don't know. And you might still be able to order one from Honda, I'm not sure.
On the carb manifold, I bought an extra one on ebay and keep it as a spare. They come up fairly often. Again, same as the 75-76 CR manifold. There is a company that makes them now, but they are fancy and very expensive. Don't buy one for a 73-74 CR as those are different.
Fender straps might still be available. I don't even keep one on my bike. There is absolutely not need for it. The rear fender doesn't move and stays perfectly in place without it. But if you want one, you can find they regularly on e-bay. Same as the CR250 strap.
Air box cover is same as 75-76 CR. If you are talking about the top of the box, just leave it off and rejet the carb a bit. You'll get a bit more power that way. If you are talking about the side cover, you'll want to find on on e-bay or somewhere else, but they are out there quite often (usually with entire airbox). The top of the MR airbox is different than the CR, but the side cover is the same.
On the shift lever, any lever from any year Honday CR 125 or 250 will bolt on. Splines are all the same. However, you'll find that most year's lever probably stick out from the crankcase more than you like. I've ridden with several no problem. But if you find any shift lever from a 73-76 CR, it will be a perfect fit. Those are aluminum rather than the steel one that came on the MR. My MR lever got bent pretty bad in a wreck, so I bought an aluminum CR lever or sometimes use a folding lever from another year Honda.
For many OEM or aftermarket parts, try www.Re-mx.com Also there are several other sites that may have parts that will work.
Good luck.

Hey mitchie, thanks for all the info!!!

Yes we are looking for the rubber bushings and steel inserts for the tank, the whole nine yards. :D

I will check with the honda dealer again and see if they have air filters or can get them. Last time we got parts from them they were not able to get any MR250 air filters. Could you give me a number at which I could call your dealer and see if I can get them through them if our dealers isn't able to?

We are looking for the side cover on the air box, the one that is interchangable with the CR, not the top cover.

Thanks for the info on the shifter levers, I have looked at the 125 shifters and newer ones and wondered if they would work.

Can't wait to hear these beasts up and running. They were not running when we got them last June, so we just tore them all the way down to a bare frame and have started over sandblasting everything, new paint, replacing worn bearings and bushings, etc.... The one engine had no compression and found the stud in the piston that keeps the ring in place was missing, thus the ring slid over to a port, snagged, and caused some expensive damage. We got an extra jug when we purchased the bikes (original jug is scored), and have bought a new piston. We are going to purchase a cylinder hone and it shouldn't be to long before we get them going.

Thanks again and we are open to any parts anyone may have to sell.

I think I have the front mounts minus the bolts, let me check and I'll get back to you- I had to buy the whole set of tank mounts to get the spacer for the rear mount.

Try www.bikebandit.com they carry a lot of stuff. If you need air filters, "UNI" custom builds them for vintage bikes. Had to have one made for my 74 MT250.
Good Luck!

Andy

Garry Starr, thank you so much for being willing to part with some hard to find parts, we really appreciate it!!!

ahelis1, I will check out bikebandit and see what they have. Also thanks for the info on the air filters, we will definitely look in to that.

At this point we are still looking for all the parts on our list minus tank bushings, so if anyone has any that they would be interested in selling, let us know. :D
