Does anyone know where I can buy a Mikuni carb for my 1976 MR175? It is running rich and probably needs to be re-jetted (which I don't know how to do) It has the stock one that I wasn't that thrilled about back in the day.
Thanks for anyone's help!

Check out this thread - it's a couple years old, some of the info may be out of date:

I'm sure there are other posts here that cover this topic as well.

My bike runs great with the stock 28mm carb. I had to replace the needle jet, but it was still cheaper and easier than jetting a Mikuni from scratch. It looks like the Mikuni VM26 carb fits the intake manifold and air boot, but is 5mm shorter overall (apparently the VM28 has been discontinued). I don't know about the throttle cable.

Your carb may have problems other than jetting - the float level may be off, the float pivot may be sticking or the valve leaking, something may be plugged, etc. etc. If you'd rather not deal with any of this a new carb may get your bike running better than it is now, but until it's jetted correctly the bike probably won't run too well.

Hi, I just brought back a '75 MR175...my favorite of our 2 strokes..sweet and wicked ole gal she is. She was ridden hard and leaned against the barn wet and exposed..they ran her with no airbox or filter even! Shock shafts bent to point of no compression and forks bent:(...wouldn't know it now:)
She is my choice ride for trails and vintage hare scrambles.
I tried rebuild on carb, replaced all internals...ran like possesses...same poor performance too rich and cutting out all the time...ran same on 118 as it did on 130 main jets...dreaded cut out at worst possible moment.
Put 26mm mikuni with 180 main with clip 2nd from top of needle...fit right onto original boots on carb. She is spot on, sweet digging in low end, strong solid steady throttle response and wicked powerband when needed or wanted. It was like magic!
Think original kehien body just worn:)

I love this bike and she just digs in and hauls up whatever you throw at her, I swear the rougher , muddier, rockier, wetter it is...she likes it:)
I can't get over the torque and power combo:)
Good luck,
Tammy
