Ive read every topic and have ask, had 38 views so far. Does nobody know if a 1973 cr pipe will fit a mt? |

Ray, do you think it wont fit the standard MT cyl? I reckon it would, they look and feel like the same exit to me. |

Jon, I can't really tell from photos, which are all I have to go on without a CR cylinder or pipe to compare. It seems like the MT cylinder's exhaust exit points slightly down while the early CR's is nearly level, but I can't be sure. I think a worst-case scenario would be that the CR pipe would need slight modification to fit the MT cylinder and/or frame. Ray |

Fair call Ray. I will have to have a look at the ones I have, but I've fitted the MT250 bassani pipe to my CR cylinder and its not perfect in its alignment but works well enough. |

Jon, Just in case it helps, here's a video of an MT250 with a Bassani pipe - pause it within the first five seconds or so: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZWooXJUPz8 Here's a crappy pic of another one: http://images1.americanlisted.com/nlarg ... 595293.jpg It seems like the above show the pipe fitting higher in the back, and tucked in more. Perhaps the CR cylinder exit angles up a little more than the MT's, and maybe out a little more too? Ray |

Does nobody know if a 1973 cr pipe will fit a mt? it will fit more or less but not without some fabrication. i ran a 1973 CR250 engine and carb on a 1974 MT250 with a DG 1973-74 CR250 pipe and i fabbed the stock 1973 CR250 air cleaner to fit,it was a real rocket to ride.

Ray the exhaust port on the 73-74 CR250 is angled the same way it is on a 74-76 MT250. here is a pic of a 73-74 CR250 cylinder side by side with a 1974-76 MT250 cylinder.  MT cylinder on the left and CR cylinder on the Right.the exhaust port on a 1975-76 CR250 cylinder dumps on the opposite side. in fact a hot setup for a desert racer back in the day was to bolt on the entire CR250M top end from 73-74 on to a 74-76 MT250 lower end and put it in his CR250 based desert sled.it had the wide MT250 ratios with the lower 1st gear to pick through the rocks and the taller 5th gear to offer the eye watering top end.the good torque of the CR250 managed the wide ratio trans quite well. |
