Jon,
Just in case it helps, here's a video of an MT250 with a Bassani pipe - pause it within the first five seconds or so:

http://images1.americanlisted.com/nlarg ... 595293.jpgIt seems like the above show the pipe fitting higher in the back, and tucked in more. Perhaps the CR cylinder exit angles up a little more than the MT's, and maybe out a little more too?

the exhaust port on the 73-74 CR250 is angled the same way it is on a 74-76 MT250.
here is a pic of a 73-74 CR250 cylinder side by side with a 1974-76 MT250 cylinder.

MT cylinder on the left and CR cylinder on the Right.the exhaust port on a 1975-76 CR250 cylinder dumps on the opposite side.
in fact a hot setup for a desert racer back in the day was to bolt on the entire CR250M top end from 73-74 on to a 74-76 MT250 lower end and put it in his CR250 based desert sled.it had the wide MT250 ratios with the lower 1st gear to pick through the rocks and the taller 5th gear to offer the eye watering top end.the good torque of the CR250 managed the wide ratio trans quite well.
