in the process of restoring my 79 cr 250 I am going to rebuild the front forks and they are actually in pretty good shape. I have taken a piece of maroon scotchbrite pad (about 12 in. long), and buffed the surface of the lower fork cases. This does a great job giving them that factory brushed look. My question is should I spray a coat of satin clear on them or leave them alone? I was also wondering if all the aluminum parts on these bikes were anodized? Thanks. |

If you are going to ride / race I would leave them bare and use a set of fork guards for protection. I think DC Plastics has them. |

If you leave them bare and live in an area with humidity or seasonal temperature changes, they will begin to oxidize. Unless you plan to buff them occaisionally, I can recommend Eastwood's "Diamond Clear Satin" for bare metal. I've used it with success. http://www.eastwood.com/ew-diamond-clea ... 11-oz.html Terry |

Thanks for the info guy's I like the idea of the satin clear. I certainly don't want the aluminum parts to oxidize after all the work I put into them. |
