Just wanted to say hello, I'm new here. I am in the process of getting a 74 CR ready to race hare scrambles in Floriduh with FTR. My wife, two kids and myself all race modern bikes in MX and HS. I set out to race an EVO bike also, but wound up vintage.

My 125 came from the original owner and is a local bike. Bike is completely original, right down to the tires and tubes. It was sitting since the late 70's until last July of last year. Engine and trans are new now with all Honda NOS parts and I am starting to work on cosmetics. I am not trying for a full on restore as I intend to race this bike. Actually, it was already raced recently at Mesa Park MX and brought home a 1st place trophy. Bike runs perfect, just needs a facelift.

Welcome! That's a cool bike - does it have a low frame serial number? I've never seen fork sliders like those on a '74, if they're original they may be quite rare.

Good catch. The fork sliders are newer, but travel is the same. I have the original forks and am working on them.

I believe they are from an XR125/175 from the late 70's. Direct fit, but about 1.5 inches longer. I fabbed some internal spacers to limit them to the stock CR travel and ride height. Stock springs work with this setup.

The original forks will eventually be back on the bike. I need new inner tubes.

Got an ignition problem, but should be ready to race again in a few days, thanks to the generosity of the vintage community.

Got to race a 1.5 hour hare scramble on the CR. beat me up pretty good, but it was fun.

Thanks, managed a second. Trying to decide when to race the CR again, planning to race modern in the next one.

1.5 hours is hard on the old girl, and on the rider too.

I raced my 1974 Elsie 125 in the modern MX 125B class once, it WAS a mud race and all the vintage guys that showed up to race bailed because of the crappy conditions. Guess what.....I won.
All the laughs I got on the starting line before the first moto were looks of amazement on the line for the second moto.

That's awesome.

We got similar reactions from in our first MX race with the Elsie. I had several friends riding modern bikes that were shocked to be holeshotted by a 39 year old 125. Most could out jump it, but couldn't really outrun it.
