Hello,Im new to the forums.
I Just picked up an old dirtbike I found sitting in my friend's backyard,i've wanted a dirtbike about alll my life and when i saw this one it just called my name.I HAD to have it,despite all the rust and dust.iIt was a diamond in the rough to me.
So my question is how much does it usually take to restore one of these?Any History Or Experiences are appreciated also,i'd love to read about them.
Would it make a good cafe racer? I cleaned it up yesterday and all it needs is a throttle cable and stator cover
did a compression test and it read 220,high compression piston???
Pu some elbow grease and a wire brush to it,its got ALOT of shine under those layers.
any info on where to get a cable and stator cover would be appreciated.

Very cool bike. I bought a MT250 recently myself. I've been scouring ebay for parts. The stator cover is NLA, so that's your best bet to find one. Throttle cable you can get at Bike Bandit or any of the similar vendors. There are lots of good vendors that have micro-fiche for this bike. Also check re-mx.com. Some of the CR parts will fit the MT.

nice! i got a '75 mt125 i'm fixing up also. check out my thread if you're interested.
ebay is your best bet for OE NOS parts. things like signals, mirrors, and cables can be found from aftermarket vendors. i found a carb for $30 and a kick lever for $50 on ebay! do some searching

oh and as for a cafe racer it's probably not the best platform. better off with a street bike. honda cb's make good cafe racers as well as suzuki gs's and kawasaki kz's
