I saw on the swap meet board that someone asked about the 290 kits for 78-80 CR 250's? I was wondering if anyone here knew anything about these? |

I hope the kits are for the Age Classes where all bikes run against eachother. Big bore kits are great for the modern Vet classes so they should work great for Evo racing too. It would be a real sad statement if folks wanted to cheat within their dispalcement classes. I hope it never comes to that.

i just use my bike to rip around the countryside with my buddies who have old yamahas (mines fastest haha). i would be interested in a 290 kit do you have a URL or anything? Thanks |

This kit is available from Kustom Kraft. I raced with one in the ACR evo open class. The bike was easier to ride with a little more low end. A little better on holeshots also. After two laps it seemed to heat up and start detonating. I finally blew it up at Southwick, MA while leading. My recomendation would be use two base gaskets to raise the exhaust port and use 100 octane fuel with say 927 Maxima Oil at 40:1. #185 main jet. I am considering putting another one together for this season. Oh yeah, maybe balancing the crank would also help. Dan |
