Hi guys I'm the proud new owner of a 74 Honda Mt 250 , I'm from South Africa and these bikes are very rare in these parts!!

Here she is
Image

As you can see she looks pretty together with most parts included , she is also licensed so that is one less thing to worry about.

ANYWAY I've started the slow shopping list but i'm struggling to find an air filter element , am I correct in assuming that the MT's use the same filter as the CR 250 of that year??

Thank you for the advice and I'll post more images as the rebuild continues

Nice MT!

I had a MT125 in '73. I restored a '74 CR125 last winter but at first I was also looking for a MT. Could'nt find one here.

Can't answer you about the filter but someone here probably will.

The UNI NU-4012 fits the MT250. As of last year the UNI Australia site had them for sale, but apparently now they don't (although they have many other vintage filters, including the MT125, MR175, CR125M, CR250M, etc.):

http://www.uniflow.com.au/contents/en-us/d40.html

I know for a fact the OEM Honda MT250 filter fits the MR175, and the UNI NU 4026 MR175 filter should fit the MT250 frame with a small amount of stretching.

I don't know for sure, but it seems UNI makes the vintage filters in batches, and when they sell out it's a while before they're available again.

www.re-mx.com has air filter elements for the MT250.

I contacted Uni for the MR175 filters that often came up on ebay. They informed me that that is not their filter and they do not make a part number 4026.

Nevertheless, they are still available on ebay and work fantastic. The seller is from new zealand and ships them quick.

Thank you gentlemen had a good weekend going through the bike and slowly sorting things out. Coil and HT lead look like they have seen better days so going to have to replace soon
Also the boot between the airbox and the carb has more holes than swiss cheese , I am looking on eBay for a new airboot. Anyone still make them new?

I think Unifilter Australia has their own separate UNI franchise, and is free to make whatever they want (in Australia) and put the UNI name on it. I don't think UNI USA or Europe would be aware of it. It's also possible that Unifilter is different from UNI Filters, but that seems like a blatant trademark infringement to me (could be wrong), and also both places use the same NU xxxx product code format.

The packaging on the two NU 4026 filters I have here (from the NZ eBay guy) both read "100% Australian Made and Owned". with the Web address http://www.unifilter.com.au .

The tube is no longer available that I can find. The part number is 17214-358-000, indicating that it was first used on the MT250. So, I doubt there will be any cross platform options. There is a used one on Ebay though.

As to the uni, I was only repeating what the US guy rather forcefully told me. Just forewarning that you may not want to call them looking for part 4026. Contact ebay, the seller's email is eBay Member: dabbernz <dabber_mviy6798ugz@members.ebay.com>. If he doesn't have an auction up for the filter, if you contact him he usually will put one up.

i got a air filter back in 2004 for my 1974 MT250 and they shipped it to me in a reasonable amount of time.

the NU-4012 is still listed on the American Uni site in the vintage section.
http://www.unifilter.com/vintage-bikes/

might ask them if they ship to your country.
